Farming for Our Future: Sharing Solutions to Climate Change from the Fields

Founded in 1993, the Center for Land-Based Learning (CLBL) is a non-profit organization that cultivates future farmers and agricultural leaders. It started with the FARMS Leadership program for high school students and now includes multiple youth programs and the California Farm Academy (CFA) for training prospective farmers. CLBL's campuses, including Maples Farm and urban farms in West Sacramento, supply produce for our Mobile Farmers' Market, serving low-income communities and connecting residents with farmers.

Project Description

Our media campaign, "Farming for Our Future: Sharing Solutions to Climate Change from the Fields," addresses the urgent issues of climate change, drought, and groundwater sustainability. Featuring high-end videos that showcase water conservation and climate mitigation practices by rural landowners in Yolo County, the campaign takes a "farmer-to-farmer" approach. By letting farmers speak for themselves, we aim to engage local communities and highlight the connection between water, land, and food production.

To broaden the reach and impact, the campaign will be supported by a social media initiative, partnerships with local organizations, and a local photographer capturing behind-the-scenes content. Our videos will be available on platforms like YouTube and Vimeo, making them easily shareable. We will also collaborate with local podcasts, magazines, and other programs to further engage urban and rural communities and amplify the project's message.
