Forest Song Project

Sierra Nevada-based artist Andie Thrams creates paintings and artist’s books in wildland forests to explore mystery, reverence, and delight while grappling with our era's vanishing habitats. Merging the lineages of illuminated manuscripts and natural history field journals with contemporary art and science awareness, her work weaves rich layers of watercolor, intricate botanical detail, and hand-lettered text to evoke the complex interconnections within ecosystems of the Greater West.

Project Description

Sierra Re-Leaf: Wildfire Preparedness + Recovery aims to support El Dorado County communities in processing recent wildfire trauma and preparing for future incidents. At the heart of the campaign is Andie Thrams' Forest Song project, which combines creative processes, contemporary forest science, and community engagement to explore grief, beauty, and interconnection. Thrams will host events across fire-affected areas, inviting participation in her creative process and showcasing her original paintings alongside works by a diverse team of artists and writers.
